If I had to have one album for the rest of my life...

I would have to say it would be this....
what would be yours?

i find it interesting that out of all the albums i enjoy when i think about the ones id like to have for the rest of my life, my immediate reactions are older albums, why is that? i still believe in music now... i think there is a very endearing, nostalgic, quality to music 3 times my age. i cant explain it. i guess i like the simplicity of early pop/rock music like the this album or songs displayed in mo-town, or the beatles records. does anyone know what i mean? i just dont hear songs like 'Sunday Morning,' and 'I'll be your mirror' anymore. Maybe I should dig deeper. and does anyone understand what im talking about?

oh, and its not often that i have too hard of a time with coveting, but i really really want to justify buying this, though its impossible.

This is a tough one. My album, and this isn't giving much thought to it either, would be something fun like The Eagles Greatest Hits, James Taylor's Greatest Hits, Fleet Foxes, or Sargent Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

...i know, i know.

Harper, I just don't get Fleet Foxes. They're good, but "one album for the rest of your life" good? Especially when you throw them up there with James Taylor and the Beatles....

My pick: Pinkerton by Weezer.

Brent, I know what you mean about old music. I'd just as soon listen to Cat Stevens or early Neil Diamond as much as anything else.

Ya man. Blonde on Blonde.
Or In the Aeroplane over the Sea.
I could listen to either of those for the rest of my life.

Brent, I agree with you wholeheartedly. The Velvet Underground's debut album is something I could listen to for the rest of my life. Likewise, most of what I listen to is music from that era. If there were any albums I would add to the Velvets, it would be Love's Forever Changes Album, The Rolling Stones' Their Satanic Majesties Request album, and the Kinks' album Village Green Preservation Society.
